Linked with about 70 welfare institutions nationwide… Joint 추진 of contract-based departments and R&D
Expanding the cooperation model with the goal of being selected as an AI-Centered University

Sahmyook University signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Sahmyook Foundation, a social welfare corporation, to strengthen cooperation in cultivating artificial intelligence (AI) professionals and in research. The signing ceremony was held on the 13th in the main conference room of the Centennial Memorial Hall on campus.
This agreement is part of a strategic cooperation initiative to expand the University’s AI education and research capabilities into the social welfare field, with the goal of being selected for the ‘AI-Centered University’ project recently announced by the Ministry of Science and ICT. Building on the fact that the Sahmyook Foundation operates about 70 social welfare facilities nationwide, the agreement focused on establishing practical cooperation models such as field-oriented talent development and the operation of contract-based departments.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will 추진 in stages: △cooperation on contract-based departments and curriculum reorganization to cultivate talent for an AI-Centered University △joint execution of research projects and promotion of commissioned research △exchange of research personnel and sharing of industry–academia project information △joint 추진 of value-diffusion projects △support for field internships and employment linkage △sharing of education and research infrastructure.
Sahmyook University plans to establish a professional workforce training system that integrates AI with welfare field sites, providing enrolled students with employment-linked field internship opportunities and expanding retraining opportunities for foundation employees through contract-based departments and graduate programs. Based on this, the University will support the digital transformation of welfare field sites and systematically cultivate practice-oriented talent that responds to on-site demand, including the development of AI-based smart work systems.
The Sahmyook Foundation, a social welfare corporation, operates about 70 social welfare facilities nationwide, serving an average of about 20,000 users per day, with annual usage reaching about 4.22 million. About 3,700 employees work there, and it is actively exploring digital transformation such as advancing AI-based welfare services and introducing smart work systems.
President Je Hae-jong of Sahmyook University said, “AI is now changing not only specific industries but also the way society as a whole operates,” adding, “Through an education and research model linked to welfare field sites, we will expand the University’s social role and ensure it leads to tangible talent development and research outcomes.”
Bae Soon-gyun, Executive Director of the Sahmyook Foundation, a social welfare corporation, said, “In welfare field sites, AI has already become an important tool,” adding, “We hope this cooperation with Sahmyook University will be an opportunity to strengthen expertise and improve the quality of welfare services.”
