“We will evaluate student records fairly”…Pledge Ceremony for Commissioned Admissions Officers to Comply with the Code of Ethics
Also a 40-hour job training… enhancing evaluation expertise
Sahmyook University appointed 47 commissioned admissions officers to evaluate applicants for the 2022 early admissions holistic review and held an online pledge ceremony on the 18th–19th to comply with the code of ethics.
The appointed admissions officers pledged that, “As experts participating in the process of selecting outstanding students who align with Sahmyook University’s educational ideals, educational philosophy, and vision, we will carry out all assigned duties fairly and faithfully with a sense of mission and fulfill our social responsibility.” They also vowed to “evaluate based on an individual’s abilities regardless of blood ties, regional ties, school ties, gender, religion, or economic or social status.”
In addition, the appointed admissions officers will complete a 40-hour, one-month job training course from the 2nd through the 31st to enhance their evaluation expertise and strengthen ethical awareness. The training covers: △Understanding the high school curriculum △Understanding college admissions and the holistic student record-based admissions process △Job ethics for admissions officers and information protection ethics △Understanding the high school curriculum and the School Life Record △Understanding our university’s admissions process △Understanding and practice of document evaluation △Understanding and practice of interview evaluation, among others.
Kim Myung-hee, Director of the Admissions Management Headquarters at Sahmyook University, said, “Appointed admissions officers have an important responsibility and authority to select outstanding students with potential,” and added, “Although there are many difficulties in admissions work due to COVID-19, please do your best so that fair and substantive evaluations can be carried out.”
Meanwhile, Sahmyook University will select a total of 845 students (804 within the quota and 41 outside the quota) for the 2022 early admissions. The application period is September 10–14.
