Sahmyook University Holds Official Character Design Contest
Sahmyook University (President Kim Il-mok) is inviting submissions for an official character that will represent the university brand. The submission period runs through April 15.
The “Sahmyook University Character Design Contest” was created to discover a character that reflects Sahmyook University’s identity, enhance the effectiveness of university promotion, and strengthen communication among members.
Eligibility is open to any member of the university community, including enrolled students, faculty, staff, and alumni, and participation is also allowed in teams of up to three people.
The contest themes are: △a character that embodies Sahmyook University’s educational philosophy and symbolism △a character that can appeal to the MZ generation △a character with a story △an original, purely creative character design that has not been previously released domestically or internationally.
Entries must be submitted as an A4-size PDF file and original files such as AI and PSD, including the basic set (front, side, and back views) and applied versions (three actions/poses). The character’s name and features, as well as its story, must also be provided.
Sahmyook University will close submissions by the 15th of next month, and after an online vote and review by the Public Relations Committee, it plans to make the final announcement of the winning entry in early May. Evaluation criteria include creativity, symbolism, completeness, popularity, and potential.
A grand prize of KRW 3 million will be awarded to one team, two teams will receive the Excellence Award with KRW 500,000 each, and five teams will receive the Merit Award with KRW 200,000 each, for a total prize pool of KRW 5 million. The grand prize-winning work will be selected as Sahmyook University’s official character and used for various online and offline promotional materials such as goods and emoticons. It is also expected to serve as a character that enjoys campus life together with enrolled students.
Shin Ji-yeon, Director of External Relations at Sahmyook University, said, “We look forward to attractive character works that clearly express the university’s educational philosophy and identity while also inspiring fandom.” (End.)
