MOU for AI Talent Development and Advanced Industry Ecosystem Creation
Linked with the Wangsuk Urban Advanced Industrial Complex

Sahmyook University signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Namyangju City to foster artificial intelligence (AI) talent and create an advanced industry ecosystem. The signing ceremony was held on the 11th at Yeoyudang, Namyangju City Hall.
This agreement was prepared to build a sustainable regional innovation ecosystem based on government-industry-academia cooperation by combining Sahmyook University’s AI-centered advanced industry education and research capabilities with regional industrial development strategies. In particular, it focused on concretizing a virtuous cycle structure—linked to the Wangsuk Urban Advanced Industrial Complex being promoted by Namyangju City—that leads to talent development, attracting companies, R&D, and job creation.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will 추진 in stages: △Fostering advanced industries and revitalizing corporate investment attraction, including the development of the Wangsuk Urban Advanced Industrial Complex △Training specialized talent in AI-centered universities and future new industries △R&D cooperation to strengthen technological competitiveness in advanced industries △Building industry-linked cooperation networks and creating region-tailored jobs △Sharing research and education infrastructure.
Based on its existing AI and software education foundation, Sahmyook University plans to systematically strengthen the cultivation of practice-oriented AI specialists that meet industry demand, as well as major-convergence AX talent. Through this, it aims to expand local employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for young talent and contribute to enhancing regional industrial competitiveness.

This agreement also aligns with the ‘AI-Centered University’ project recently announced by the Ministry of Science and ICT. The AI-Centered University project aims to expand and advance AI education systems across universities as a whole, targeting general four-year universities. Sahmyook University’s strategy is to proactively build an AI education and research ecosystem linked to local industries, thereby concretizing an industry-demand-based talent development model and securing the execution capacity needed to take on the AI-Centered University challenge.
President Je Hae-jong of Sahmyook University said, “Based on the education and research capabilities Sahmyook University has accumulated in AI-centered advanced industry fields, we will further strengthen region-tailored talent development,” adding, “We will actively cooperate so that this agreement can lead to young talent settling in the region and to stronger industrial competitiveness.”
Mayor Joo Kwang-deok of Namyangju City said, “This agreement is an important starting point for building a future growth foundation in which talent, technology, and industry are organically connected,” adding, “We will concentrate all our capabilities so that Namyangju City can leap forward as an advanced industry innovation hub.”
