Jeong Seong-jin, Head of the Brand Strategy Headquarters at Sahmyook University, donated KRW 12 million to the “120th Anniversary Moving Donation Relay” in the names of his parents, the late Pastor Jeong Yong-geun and Mrs. Jeong Bu-yeon.

Director Jeong said, “I’ve long thought that I wanted to make a meaningful donation in my parents’ names,” adding, “After recently discussing it with my siblings, we came to an agreement to donate KRW 12 million in our parents’ names in celebration of the university’s 120th anniversary.”

Pastor Jeong graduated in 1966 from the Department of Theology at Sahmyook Theological College, the predecessor of Sahmyook University. In 1967, he began his pastoral ministry in the Yeongnam region, and later contributed to the denomination’s development by serving in administrative and financial fields.

In particular, while serving as treasurer of the Seventh-day Adventist Church Korean Union Conference in the 1980s, he experienced together the turning point when Sahmyook Foods’ soy milk business began in earnest. Director Jeong recalled, “I still vividly remember him bringing home a prototype of Sahmyook Soy Milk in a silver pouch,” adding, “It was a very novel product at the time, and later Sahmyook Soy Milk became a turning point for the Sahmyook brand.”

Pastor Jeong served as the general manager (president) of University Food from 1988 to 1991, leading the golden era of “Sahmyook Milk.” At the time, University Food grew into a major revenue-generating business with about 100 employees and annual sales of KRW 8 billion. The development of University Food served as an important foundation as Sahmyook University established a comprehensive university system. This period is also regarded as a financial turning point in the university’s history.

Director Jeong said, “When I think of my father from my childhood, the image of a ‘financial leader’ is always imprinted in my mind,” adding, “It seems that my father’s footsteps—devoting himself to the development of Sahmyook’s finances and brand—connect with my role today as well.”

Through a recent organizational restructuring, Director Jeong has come to oversee not only the Brand Strategy Headquarters but also the External Cooperation Team, the department in charge of the development fund. He said, “Since I’m in a position where I need to encourage professors, staff, and students, I wanted to show it through action first,” and added, “Remembering my parents’ dedication, I want to contribute to preparing for the university’s next 100 years.”

President Je Hae-jong said, “This is a meaningful example in which the dedication of the previous generation has been passed down through generations into sharing,” adding, “I hope the 120th anniversary Moving Donation Relay will serve as an opportunity to further expand participation and solidarity within the Sahmyook community.”

Meanwhile, in celebration of its 120th anniversary this year, Sahmyook University is carrying out the “Moving Donation Relay Campaign.” The campaign is operated in six tiers: △Hope Sharing KRW 12,000 (1,200 participants) △Joy Sharing KRW 120,000 (1,200 participants) △Happiness Sharing KRW 1,200,000 (120 participants) △Love Sharing KRW 12,000,000 (120 participants) △Vision Sharing KRW 120,000,000 (120 participants) △Glory Sharing KRW 1.2 billion (12 participants). A total of 2,772 participants across the tiers will join this meaningful journey for the university’s development.
