Sahmyook University has consistently held its position as the leading university in the capital region (Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon) when it comes to the highest per-student scholarship allocation among enrolled students. This noteworthy achievement spans four consecutive years, starting from 2019 and continuing through 2022.

The ‘August 2023 University Information Disclosure Results,’ recently unveiled by the Ministry of Education and the Korean Council for University Education via the University Information System, revealed that Sahmyook University’s per-student annual scholarship for 2022 reached an impressive 4,162,262 KRW. This figure marks a significant increase compared to the previous year’s amount of 3,912,563 KRW, signifying a notable rise of 249,699 KRW.

When considering universities in the capital region with more than 5,000 enrolled students (including both public and private institutions), Sahmyook University emerges as the institution offering the most substantial scholarship support.

It’s worth highlighting that Sahmyook University’s per-student scholarship surpasses not only the national average of 3,583,000 KRW for general and educational universities but also the regional average of 3,510,000 KRW for universities in the capital region. This substantial financial aid implies that more than half of the tuition fees at Sahmyook University are effectively covered by scholarships.
At the heart of Sahmyook University’s scholarship offerings is the ‘MVP Scholarship (Mileage Scholarship)’ program, which rewards students based on their accomplishments and experiences across three essential domains: Mission (character and liberal arts education), Vision (internationalization, certifications, and major achievements), and Passion (volunteer work). Those meeting the MVP criteria are eligible for scholarship support, and in just one year, this program disbursed a total of 1,256.1 million KRW.

Moreover, Sahmyook University dedicated 440 million KRW to ‘Special Academic Encouragement Scholarships’ aimed at tackling the challenges posed by COVID-19 while promoting academic excellence. Additional support scholarships for foreign students amounted to 253.6 million KRW.
The university also maintains a strong foundation of scholarship assistance through government financial support programs. Sahmyook University secured participation in significant national initiatives such as the University Innovation Support Project and the Software-centered University Project. Notably, students majoring in software-related fields benefited greatly from expanded scholarship opportunities under the Software-centered University Project.

Sahmyook University’s commitment to expanding scholarship resources extends to diverse fundraising endeavors. These include ‘Department Seed Scholarships’ contributed by alumni to benefit current students, ‘Student Love Scholarships’ and ‘Staff Association Scholarships’ sponsored by professors and staff to support their students, ‘Sahmyook Love Shop Scholarships’ designed for international exchange students, and the ‘Dorcas Scholarships’ contributed by members of the university’s church, among other initiatives.

In addition to these efforts, the university administers a total of 78 distinct scholarship programs, thanks to the generous support of various sectors.
