Sahmyook University completed the ‘2022 Overseas Employment Training Program (K-Move School) University Joint Course’ jointly operated with Daejin University and Duksung Women’s University. Seventy-eight students from the three universities completed more than 600 hours of intensive training courses during one semester, and 34 students have succeeded in finding employment at overseas and domestic companies since last December.

Sahmyook University, Daejin University, and Deoksung Women’s University held the “2022 Association Course Completion Ceremony for Overseas Employment Training Project” on January 26th at the Janggeuncheong Hall of Sahmyook University’s Centennial Building. About 100 people attended the event, including Sahmyook University’s President Kim, Il-mok, the head of the University Job Center Ryu, Su-hyeon, and officials and graduate students from three universities.

The ‘Overseas Employment Training Project,’ supported by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, is a talent training program tailored to the needs of overseas companies. It is a comprehensive program that supports language and job training, employment counseling, mediation, and life information for local settlements after employment. Sahmyook University was selected as a university operating this project for five consecutive years from 2018. It achieved the result of getting 80 graduates employed by local companies in the United States.

In particular, Sahmyook University has been promoting the project by forming an alliance project team with participating universities such as Daejin University and Duksung Women’s University, as it was additionally selected for the ‘university joint course’ introduced last year. The project cost is 1.077 billion won (government subsidy of 960 million won) per year and is supported for up to 4 years (2+2 years).

Since the end of August, the Sahmyook University Joint Project has operated four main courses to get employed in the United States. △Global e-Biz expert training course (Sahmyook University, 22 students) △Global design expert training course (Sahmyook University, 22 students) △Global business expert training course (Daejin University, 14 students) △Smart trade, logistics & accounting expert training course (Duksung Women’s University, 20 students) and a total of 78 graduates (expected) were selected.

The joint project nurtured practical talents based on local demand through intensive training courses of 600 to 660 hours, including job training, business English (language training), and culture, safety, and legal education. Job matching began last December, and 31 overseas job seekers and three domestic job seekers have been produced so far. The goal is to complete the matching process with foreign companies by the end of February.

In addition, off-campus, it actively utilized networks such as local alum organizations in the United States and overseas employment agencies to focus on discovering excellent companies and securing and verifying employment. A follow-up management system was also launched to support local adaptation after employment. President Kim, Il-Mok of Sahmyook University, President Lim, Young-moon of Daejin University, and President Kim, Gun-hee of Duksung Women’s University will visit US local companies for two weeks starting on the 29th to discuss ways to cooperate.

At the graduation ceremony, Sahmyook University President Kim Il-mok said, “I hope that when you advance to the global stage, you will remember that you are global ambassadors representing your alma mater and, furthermore, Korea. Your success will not only be your own but will also serve as a foundation for helping juniors who will follow the path.”
