On the 2nd, Sahmyook University held the entrance ceremony for the 2023 academic year at the 70th Anniversary Memorial Hall (Auditorium) on campus and welcomed new students. The entrance ceremony was held as an in-person event for the first time in four years since the spread of COVID-19.

This year, 1,486 undergraduate students, including 1,220 first-year students and 266 transfer students (including pharmacy school), and 330 graduate students (as of the morning of the 2nd), including general Graduate School, Graduate School of Theology, Business School, and Graduate School of Clinical Nursing (as of the morning of the 2nd), were admitted.

Freshmen representatives Jun-hwan Lee (Department of Nursing) and Da-yeon Shin (Department of Art and Design) took the podium. They pledged “to do our best to prepare to become workers who become the salt and light to the society by devoting ourselves to our studies” and received the school’s insignia and medal from President Il-mook Kim.

In his speech titled “We Need People,” President Kim said, “In the past industrial era, we needed labor, not people. However, in today’s world, where labor is being replaced by AI technology, we need people, not labor. That person refers to a person with knowledge, character, and health. In other words, a person with excellent intellectual abilities, clean morality, and a correct lifestyle are the talents needed by the 4th industrial revolution society. Sahmyook University is the university that nurtures such people.”

President Kim continued, “Sahmyook University will be a stepping-stone to achieve your dreams and visions farther and higher,” President Kim said, adding, “Your future will be designed according to your dreams. I hope you will become a triad that develops your intellect, spirituality, and body evenly, design the best university experience, and create a wonderful life.”
