Sahmyook University’s Department of Global Korean Studies has signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement (MOU) with SDA Language Academy -Philippine Training Center to operate language training programs for students.

According to this agreement, students of the Department of Global Korean Studies can participate in an intensive language training program that runs for 4 or 8 weeks each vacation and receive a certain amount of discount on training fees. The Department of Global Korean Studies selected four students for this winter vacation and had them participate in the 4-week program of the training institute from last January.

Dean Kim Bong-geun said, “Foreign language skills are essential for Global Korean Studies students as they advance to King Sejong Institutes worldwide, as well as domestic and foreign OTT companies and entertainment companies. Through classes during the semester, we strengthen specialized capabilities in each field, and during vacation, we guide to help students develop basic language skills. We hope to have more students participate in the training program in the future.”

Baek, Joon, head of the training center, said, “I am delighted to have the opportunity to cooperate with Sahmyook University’s Department of Global Korean Studies to foster talents, hoping that the students will grow into a global talent through our excellent program. In the future, we will expand the program beyond English training to other foreign language trainings such as Chinese.”

On the other hand, SDA Language Academy- Philippines Training Center celebrated its 21st anniversary this year and is registered as an official educational institution with the local government. It is equipped with large-scale facilities that can accommodate 100 people at a time and operates a comprehensive management program where one resides and spends 24 hours a day with foreign teachers.
