Theology and Academics, an academic journal published by Sahmyook University Theological Research Institute, was selected as an academic journal registered with the National Research Foundation of Korea in 2022. This is the first feat achieved in two years since being selected as a journal candidate for registration in 2020. It is meaningful as it was an academic achievement when various activities were significantly contracted due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Theology and Academics, is the successor to the Theological Review published by Sahmyook University Theological Research Institute once a year from 1993 to 2010. It was reissued in 2016 and increased to three times a year. Starting the August 2018 issue, the title was changed to Theology and Academics, which continues to this day.

Theology and Academics, is a multidisciplinary academic journal aiming at a convergence of interdisciplinary approaches, improving the degeneration found in Korean Christianity through research that applies the Christian worldview to all fields of study and life and exploring creative and future-oriented values.

To this end, we are planning a particular theme announced in advance for each issue, which is to derive the convergence of Christian values and other studies in various academic areas.

△Women, Church, and Theology (Vol. 22, No. 1) △ Medical Understanding of COVID-19 and the Church (Vol. 22, No. 2) △ Paintings and Christianity (Vol. 22, No. 3) △ Religion and Film (Vol. 23, No. 1) Ho) △Nationality and Community (Vol. 23, No. 2) △English Literature and Christian Thought (Vol. 23, No. 3).

A particular study that quickly reflected the situation of the times was also attempted. Following the issue of Volume 22, Issue 2, which was prepared as a special feature on COVID-19, the latest issue, Volume 24, Issue 2 (August 22), features a special feature called “Finding a Path to Peace” in the face of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In addition, it has been actively contributing to English papers, which will be an original academic contribution, as a “bilingual international journal.” Through this, the scope of contributors is globalized, and the value that the institute aims for is shared worldwide.

Professor Kim Sang-rae, director of the research institute and editor-in-chief, who is about to retire in the first half of next year, said, “This is the fruit of the dedication of executives and the expertise of editors. Now, the next goal, the selection of excellent academic journals, and the listing in the world-class academic database, SCOPUS, is up to the juniors,” he said.
