In a vibrant display of cultural exchange and artistic exploration, Sahmyook University’s Department of Integrated Arts recently concluded the Korea-China International Art Exchange Exhibition ‘Seorae Dongdo’ at the Guangzhou Deokpum Cultural Center in China from July 3 to 9.

This unique exhibition was crafted to delve into the aesthetic possibilities that arise when different cultural contexts collide, with Professor Kim Yoo-sun at the helm. A total of 26 talented artists, including graduates, current students, and esteemed guiding professors like Vice President Kim Yong-sun (Kim Cheon-jeong), came together to participate in this creative endeavor.

The mastermind behind the exhibition planning was none other than Tan Shu, a dedicated graduate of the Integrated Arts Department who now serves as a special lecturer. Juggling multiple roles, including deputy director at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts Sculpture and Public Art Institute, as well as president of the Guangzhou Tenhegu Artists Association, Tan Shu played a pivotal role in bringing this cultural exchange to life.

The grand opening on the 2nd saw a dazzling array of guests, including Shin Ji-yeon, Director of the Office of International Affairs at Sahmyook University, Kim Cheol-ho, Head of the Integrated Arts Department, Professor Kim Yoo-sun, Professor Kim Young-hwa specializing in art therapy, along with other university officials and prominent figures from the cultural and arts scene in Guangzhou, China, alongside local media representatives.

Buoyed by the success of this exhibition, the Integrated Arts Department is already setting its sights on the future, with plans to host the 2nd Korea-China Exchange Exhibition ‘Seorae Dongdo’ in the bustling city of Seoul next year.

Since its establishment in 2019, the Integrated Arts Department at Sahmyook University has been dedicated to nurturing visionary leaders in arts education and management, fostering expertise across various art forms. From Arts Management to Integrated Arts Education Content, International Art Theory, Visual Practice, Opera, Musical, Art and Technology, Integrated Art Therapy, and AI Art Content, the department offers a diverse range of majors to its students.

Currently, the program boasts 97 Chinese students, including 61 doctoral candidates, 27 integrated master’s and doctoral students, and 9 master’s students, all actively engaged in their academic pursuits at Sahmyook University.
