On November 7, Sahmyook University hosted the 2024 Kimchi Festival for the Community in front of Daniel Hall.

The event was organized by Sahmyook University and ADRA Korea, with collaboration from local welfare organizations, including the Namyangju Western Hope Care Center, Namyangju Eastern Senior Welfare Center, Guri Comprehensive Welfare Center, and Namyangju Dasan Senior Welfare Center. It brought together 75 participants, including Sahmyook University President Jae Hae-jong, students, international students, faculty, staff, local residents, and volunteers.

Participants prepared 3,000 kilograms of kimchi (700 boxes) during the festival, which was distributed directly to 700 vulnerable households through the partnering community welfare centers.

President Jae Hae-jong expressed his gratitude, stating, “I sincerely thank everyone who participated in this meaningful service despite the cold weather. I hope the kimchi we made today will bring warmth to our neighbors and that the joy of sharing will return to us as even greater happiness.”

Bukolova Daria, a student from Russia studying at the university’s Korean Language Institute, shared her experience, saying, “Even though the weather was cold, knowing that this was for those in need warmed my heart. It was my first time making kimchi, which made the experience even more special.”
