Sahmyook University has taken an exciting leap into the Arab world by signing Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) for international exchange with five prestigious universities in the United Arab Emirates. This groundbreaking move marks the university’s first venture into collaboration with Arab institutions.

From January 24 to February 5, a delegation led by President Jae Hae-jong, along with key figures like International Education Institute Director Choi Seung-nyeon and Glocal Social Innovation Institute Director Lee Byeong-hee, visited six universities in the UAE.

The universities joining hands with Sahmyook include:
American University of Sharjah
Ajman University
Hult International Business School in Dubai
Westford University
Liwa College – Abu Dhabi Campus

In addition, discussions are ongoing with Gulf Medical University to finalize new exchange agreements.

This partnership opens the door to an array of collaborative opportunities, including student exchanges through summer programs, the establishment of exchange and dual degree programs, and academic partnerships. The goal is to build trust and gradually expand the scope of cooperation.

The six universities involved are highly regarded in the Arab world, and some are initiating their first exchanges with a Korean university, making this even more significant.

Adding to the excitement, a group of ten Sahmyook students participated in the visit, engaging with local university Korean culture clubs to create a vibrant atmosphere. They hosted activities like a “Squid Game”-themed cultural booth, K-POP performances, and traditional Korean music, all aimed at fostering mutual understanding and connection.

President Jae Hae-jong expressed enthusiasm for the future, stating, “This exchange enhances our visibility in the Arab region and lays the groundwork for long-term cooperation. We plan to offer summer camps for Middle Eastern students to experience Korean language and culture, with a vision to expand exchange programs and attract more international students.”

Sahmyook University is already active with 188 universities worldwide, and this latest initiative is set to pave the way for even more dynamic international collaborations.
