Sahmyook University, which will introduce an essay writing test for the 2024 school year entrance exam, held an essay briefing session with Gachon University.

The briefing session was held on July 23rd at the 70th Anniversary Memorial Hall (Auditorium) on campus, and about 1,000 people attended, including high school seniors, parents, and guidance counselors.

Sahmyook University and Gachon University operated an aptitude test until the 2021 school year entrance exam. However, after abolishing it per the Ministry of Education’s policy, they introduced a new type of essay screening called “abbreviated essay writing.”

The briefing session was held to provide helpful information to test takers preparing for the two universities because the direction of the essay test and the method of operation, such as the number of questions, scoring, test time, and scope of questions, are the same.

Sahmyook University and Gachon University admissions team leaders stepped up to the podium at the briefing session. They explained in detail the main points of the essay writing process at each university. Next, Jae-jin Lee, Director of the Future University Research Institute, analyzed the direction of essay writing at Sahmyook University and Gachon University from an expert’s perspective.

After the briefing session, counseling booths for each university were operated. Through 1:1 customized counseling with the officials of each university, various questions about the essay screening and essay exams were resolved.
Myung-hee Kim, Dean of Admissions at Sahmyook University, said, “We hope this briefing session will help resolve questions and anxiety about the essay screening and establish a successful entrance examination strategy.”
