2025-01-08 29

Sahmyook University will once again send a large-scale volunteer corps to various regions at home and abroad during this winter break.

The deployment includes six overseas destinations—Philippines, Nepal, Cambodia, Tunisia, Türkiye, and the United Arab Emirates—as well as three domestic locations. The program involves a total of 11 teams and 165 participants, consisting of 147 students and 18 professors. Volunteers will engage in educational, medical, and cultural exchange services in their assigned areas.

A commissioning ceremony for the 2024 Winter Volunteer Corps was held on Nov. 27 in the Hong Myung-ki Hall of the university’s Johan Hall. The event was attended by the volunteers and their supervising professors.
During the ceremony, all volunteers, including Im Soo-rin (Department of Theology) and Choi Min-seok (Department of Environmental Design and Horticulture), recited a pledge to “serve diligently and uphold the honor of the university and the nation,” reaffirming their commitment to the mission.

University President Jae Hae-jong encouraged the volunteers, saying, “As representatives of Sahmyook’s core values of truth and love, I urge you to demonstrate leadership by serving and loving your neighbors at your volunteer sites. Your dedication will contribute to a happier and more peaceful world.”

Sahmyook University consistently organizes large-scale volunteer programs every academic break, aiming to foster global citizenship among students while instilling the values of sharing and service.
