Sahmyook University has agreed to operate an exchange student program with Tsing Hua University, one of the most prestigious universities in Taiwan, Chaoyang University of Technology, and National United University.

President Il-mok Kim visited Taiwan from June 19th to 21st and signed an international exchange agreement (MOU) with Tsing Hua University, Chaoyang University of Technology, and National United University to send exchange students.

President Kim previously visited these universities in January to discuss ways to exchange and cooperate, and until recently, working-level consultations were concluded, and reached an agreement.

According to the agreement, Sahmyook University decided to send up to two students as exchange students to each university every year or every semester. In addition, they agreed to cooperate in joint research, exchange professors, publications, and information exchange.

During this business trip, President Kim also visited Taichung University of Science and Technology, an existing sister university in Taiwan, and met with President Junhong Xue to share the results of previous exchanges and cooperation. They were also invited to the banquet of the presidents of universities in the Taichung area and promised to sign international exchange agreements with each university.

President Kim said, “I felt a high interest in Korean universities due to the recent ‘K-Culture’ craze. Through this agreement, we laid the foundation for student exchanges and various academic exchanges with Taiwan universities, which are IT powerhouses. We look forward to more active exchanges that will continue.”

Meanwhile, National Tsing Hua University is a research-oriented national university considered one of Taiwan’s most prestigious universities.

It was established with the same roots as Tsinghua University in China, but after the Kuomintang government moved to Taiwan in 1949, it reopened in Hsinchu in 1956.

It is located in Hsinchu Science Park, the ‘Silicon Valley of Taiwan,’ where high-tech companies such as TSMC are concentrated and have global competitiveness in science and engineering.

Chaoyang University of Technology, established in 1994, is Taiwan’s first private engineering university. It operates six colleges and 25 departments, with 14,500 students enrolled. It is consistently ranked in the top rankings in world university evaluations such as THE and QS. National United University is a national university established in 1972. It operates 19 departments in six colleges and 18 graduate programs, with strengths in science and engineering.

Meanwhile, Sahmyook University signed MOUs with 127 universities worldwide and actively promotes international exchanges such as student exchanges and joint research by professors. About 600 international students from 25 countries are currently studying at Sahmyook University.
