[NEWS] Je Haejong, the 16th president of SU, has officially taken office

Je Haejong, the 16th president of Sahmyook University, has officially taken office.

In a ceremony held on March 25th at the John Hall Auditorium on campus, the transition from the 15th president, Kim Ilmok, to the newly appointed president, Je Haejong, was celebrated.

With the rallying cry of “SU RISE: A New Era for Sahmyook University,” President Je declared his commitment to steering Sahmyook University for the next four years. This motto encapsulates the university’s core strategies of Revival, Innovation, Sustainability, and Engagement, aimed at elevating its brand value.

President Je outlined his vision, stating, “Rooted in Revival, we will foster an environment of Innovative and Sustainable education through Engagement.” He expressed his determination to enhance Sahmyook’s standing through these initiatives.

In addition to these overarching goals, President Je emphasized the importance of integrating Sahmyook Health College and establishing a medical school. He sees these endeavors as essential for the university’s growth, enabling economic viability and operational efficiency.

Looking ahead, President Je highlighted the impending challenges posed by declining college-aged populations. He pledged to utilize this critical period to fortify Sahmyook’s brand value by establishing a resilient platform. By breaking down disciplinary barriers and fostering collaboration among various sectors, he aims to solidify Sahmyook’s position in the academic landscape.

Born in 1967, President Je is a distinguished alum of Sahmyook University, holding a BA in theology from both Sahmyook and an M.Div and PhD from Andrews University in the United States. He has served the university diligently, holding various leadership roles since his appointment as a professor in 2012.

President Je’s term extends from March 1st to February 29th, 2028, marking a pivotal four-year tenure in Sahmyook’s journey. With his leadership, the university is poised for continued growth and excellence.
