Sahmyook University’s Career Development Center has successfully concluded the ‘Blue Ladder’ overseas study program for the summer break.
On August 1, the university held the ‘2024 Blue Ladder Achievement Report Meeting’ at the International Education Center, Jang Geun-cheong Hall.
The Blue Ladder program provides overseas study opportunities to students from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them develop global skills and explore career opportunities. Supported by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Scholarship Foundation, Sahmyook University has been a key operator since the program’s inception in 2018.
This year, 60 students (including 9 from other universities) were selected for placements at Toronto Metropolitan University in Canada and Victoria University Sydney in Australia.
Participants underwent a 2-night, 3-day pre-program orientation before embarking on a 4-week program that included language studies, career exploration, cultural experiences, and team projects.
Following the program, Sahmyook University will continue to provide individual mentoring and career guidance, and offer priority selection for future overseas employment training programs (K-Move).
O Chae-yun, a third-year student in English Language and Literature, reflected, “Interacting with people from different backgrounds was a major boost, broadening my perspective. The experiences gained from this program will be invaluable for my future endeavors.”
Jeong Seong-jin, Director of the Career Development Center, encouraged the students to build on their newfound confidence and experiences to grow further and pursue their dreams.
