From June 17 to July 28, Sahmyook University hosted the ‘ACA International Summer University,’ welcoming Seventh-day Adventist students from around the globe.
Adventist Colleges Abroad (ACA) is a consortium of Seventh-day Adventist institutions, coordinated by the North American Division’s education department. It offers international exchange programs that place students at Adventist colleges in various countries. Sahmyook University joined ACA last year and hosted students for the first time this summer.
The program offered international students an immersive experience in Korean language and culture, featuring a 6-week intensive Korean course, student exchange activities, Korean cooking classes, pottery, Taekwondo, K-POP dance, and visits to prominent sites like Jeju Island, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Myeongdong, and Hongdae.
Penina Bairinjiro from Kettering College expressed, “The programs exceeded my expectations, and the genuine hospitality from the staff was deeply touching.” Lucas Park from La Sierra Academy noted, “Experiencing my ancestors’ cultural heritage for the first time was both enjoyable and meaningful.”
Shin Ji-yeon, Director of the International Education Center, stated, “We will continue to invite Seventh-day Adventist students from around the world every summer, providing rich experiences and promoting cross-cultural understanding. We are committed to realizing ACA’s vision of ‘Learning without Borders.’”
