Sahmyook University has once again secured its spot as the leading university in Seoul for scholarship funds per student, marking five consecutive years at the top.

According to the latest figures from the Ministry of Education and the Korean Council for University Education, released on August 31, Sahmyook students received an average scholarship of 4,006,695 won in 2023. This amount is the highest among general universities in Seoul with over 5,000 students, surpassing the national average of 3,569,000 won and the metropolitan average of 3,457,000 won by significant margins.

Given that the average tuition at Sahmyook University was 7,830,281 won last year, this generous scholarship support means that over half of tuition costs are covered through financial aid.

One standout program is the “MVP Scholarship (Mileage Scholarship),” which rewards students for their accomplishments in three key areas: Mission (character and liberal education), Vision (internationalization and certifications), and Passion (service). Those who meet the MVP criteria can benefit from this scholarship.

The university’s most substantial funding comes from the “Sharing Scholarship,” aimed at assisting the most financially needy students. In the past year alone, this fund distributed over 1.93 billion won.

Sahmyook University is also expanding its scholarship offerings through various donation initiatives. Alumni contribute through the “Departmental Milal Scholarship,” while faculty and staff support the “Teacher’s Love Scholarship” and “Staff Association Scholarship.” Additionally, the “Sahmyook Sarang Shop Scholarship” aids international students, and the “Dorcas Scholarship” is funded by donations from church members.

Currently, the university boasts an impressive 59 different scholarship programs, all fueled by a robust network of support from various community members.
