Sahmyook University will newly establish a cutting-edge department, the Department of Big Data Cloud Engineering, within the College of Future Convergence and recruit new students from the 2024 entrance examination this year.<\/p>\n

The Department of Big Data Cloud Engineering nurtures creative glocal software developers equipped with solid theoretical and practical skills to lead the growth of the data cloud industry in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, as well as have various problem-solving skills and holistic literacy.<\/p>\n

In the 1st and 2nd year courses, students will learn fundamental theories and programming-related subjects for software development, handled by the existing Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Convergence. In the 3rd and 4th year courses, \u2018Data Engineering Track\u2019 and \u2018Cloud Computing Track,\u2019 which are specialized in big data and cloud computing, are operated.<\/p>\n

In the data engineering track, students learn subjects such as \u25b3social big data analysis \u25b3data mining \u25b3data visualization \u25b3social big data analysis, and \u25b3cloud-based big data analysis. The main subjects of the Cloud Computing Track are \u25b3cloud computing \u25b3cloud virtualization \u25b3cloud infrastructure management \u25b3cloud operation and \u25b3cloud DevOps automation.<\/p>\n

Emphasis was placed on intensive major courses that accommodated the requirements of field workers, and capstone design and internship courses were strengthened in the 3rd and 4th-year courses to improve practical skills. They actively recruited industry practitioners as lecturers and mentors to improve students\u2019 working skills and employment rates.<\/p>\n

In addition, it plans to promote convergence education and research by linking the curriculum and faculty with the Department of Computer Engineering and the Department of Artificial Intelligence Convergence, which are affiliated departments of the College of Future Convergence.<\/p>\n

President Il-mok Kim said, \u201cFollowing the establishment of the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence Convergence in 2021, the establishment of the department in high-tech fields, including the Department of Big Data Cloud Engineering, has made it possible to prepare for the increase in human resources demand in new industries and further strengthen the university\u2019s competitiveness.
