Sahmyook University has produced Presidential Science Scholarship students for two consecutive years.<\/p>\n
Jeon Eun-seon (Class of 2020), Sahmyook University Department of Chemistry and Life Science, was selected as the \u20182022 Presidential Science Scholarship Student.\u2019 Cheon, Jae-hwan (Class of 2019), who was chosen last year, continued to be maintained his scholarship status.<\/p>\n
The Presidential Science Scholarship is a scholarship system to foster a world-class group of essential scientists by discovering and nurturing the best students in the field of science and technology who are creative and full of potential. After comprehensively evaluating their academic performance, science activities, growth plans, and volunteer activities, students are selected through in-depth interviews. They are supported with full tuition and 2.5 million won per semester for academic subsidies until graduation.<\/p>\n
Jeon, Eun-seon, selected as the Presidential Science Scholarship student this year, is very passionate about her major and knowledge exploration and is a student who practices sharing through knowledge.<\/p>\n
While in middle school, she dreamed of becoming a vaccine development researcher while watching MERS take away lives. She entered the Department of Chemistry and Life Sciences at Sahmyook University for more systematic learning. While in school, she participated in academic competitions and presented on topics such as \u2018Disease Diagnosis \u2013 RDT Kit Principle\u2019 and \u2018Mechanism of Use of Drugs \u2013 Pain Relief Mechanism,\u2019 etc., and received first prize and the encouragement prize. Her grades are excellent enough that she has not missed being at the top of her class each semester.<\/p>\n
She is also continuously carried out volunteer activities for science experiment education for young people. Based on her major knowledge, she designed and taught various scientific experiments and learned teaching methods. They became interested in life science while experimenting, which is not easily experienced in a regular curriculum.<\/p>\n
Jeon, Eun-seon said, \u201cI realized that I am a valuable person in that I can help someone when I see students who say that biology is difficult because it is a memorized subject become interested in knowing the principles while experimenting, or when I explain various fields of biology to students struggling with career problems. Above all, the way I think and study from the student\u2019s point of view has helped me find answers to my concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n
She said that she is particularly interested in dementia treatment research. After graduating from undergraduate school, she wants to attend the Graduate School of Brain Cognitive Sciences, finish her master\u2019s and doctoral courses, and work as a researcher. \u201cThere are many dementia patients around me, so I am aware of the pain their families are experiencing.<\/p>\n
I want to become a scientist who thinks convergently and produces results by learning and combining not only life science, majored in my undergraduate studies, but also various disciplines such as computer engineering, chemical engineering, and pharmacy.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
