Bereaved Family of Late Pastor So Byeong-jik Delivers the Scholarship Fund to SU<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The bereaved family of late Pastor So Byeong-jik, who spent his entire life serving in the U.S., donated a scholarship fund of ten thousand dollars to Sahmyook University, in accordance with his will.<\/p>\n

Born in November of 1942, the deceased graduated from Sahmyook University as a theology major in 1970 and served in Daegu and the Busan area for two years. After marrying Ms. Im Sun-ja (one of the first class of graduates of SU Department of Home Education) in 1972, he moved to the US, graduated from Andrews University\u2019s Seminary in 1984, and was ordained as a pastor in the New York Conference in 1986.<\/p>\n

After that, So served several churches as a senior pastor, including the Fort Worth Church in Dallas, the Houston Korean Seventh Day Adventist Church in Texas, the Riverside Korean Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Queens Korean SDA Church in New York, and the Korean Central Church of New York until his retirement in September 2008. The faithful servant of God enjoyed his retired life with his family in Walla Walla County in Washington and Arizona before entering into a peaceful rest in the Lord at the age of 78, in February this year.<\/p>\n

The donation ceremony of the scholarship fund was held at the President\u2019s Office of the Sahmyook University Centennial Memorial Hall on July 5. The ceremony was joined by the late pastor\u2019s younger sister So Jin-ae (adjunct professor at SU Department of Art and Design) and her husband Park Gwang-seon (former director of Sahmyook Adventist Dental Hospital).<\/p>\n

\u201cThroughout his entire life in the US, he always cherished the fond memories of his four years at Sahmyook University, which he said were the happiest times of his life,\u201c So\u2019s family said. \u201cHe asked us to deliver this money to students with a calling to serve the Lord.\u201c<\/p>\n

President Kim Il-mok reciprocated, \u201cIn respect of So\u2019s precious will, we will make sure to put this donation to good use to support and cultivate talented professionals.\u201c<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
