President Kim’s Visit to Andrews University and La Sierra University

Sahmyook University is expanding exchange and cooperation with its American sister universities, in particular with Andrews University, and La Sierra University, boosting its global competence.

On October 28 (local time), SU President Il-mok Kim visited La Sierra University and signed an MOU with the counterpart Joy Ferh on the operation of the “2+2 Undergraduate Transfer Program.”

Participants of this four-year program, two at Sahmyook University and another two at La Sierra University, can earn a U.S. bachelor’s degree upon their completion of the course with a 50 percent discount on the registration fee for their transfer.

The two universities also agreed to cooperate to further vitalize the SW-Centered University Project, which Sahmyook University is promoting with the support of the Ministry of Science and ICT. Major points of the cooperation agreement include education and research information exchanges, the promotion of joint research, the development and operation of joint educational programs, the holding of international seminars, and the exchange of professors and students.

President Kim then visited Andrews University, another sister university, on November 3 to discuss the achievements of exchange and cooperation so far and renew the existing agreement.

The two universities decided to continue promoting the ‘Top-Ten Student Program.’ Their major exchange and cooperation program allows 10 outstanding students from each university to study at the other university with 50 percent support of the registration fee. Also, the operation of the Andrews Partnership Scholarship, which provides a 30-percent discount on the registration fee to regular exchange students, is to be continued. In addition, the MOU for cooperation on the Software-Centered University Project was newly signed on the same day.

President Kim Il-mok said, “Sahmyook University has been working in partnership with Andrews University and La Sierra University for decades as a sister university, and many of its graduates have become professors and international students and are achieving excellent results.” He continued, “We look forward to supporting many more students to take advantage of these opportunities to develop their competencies and grow as global leaders.”
