The Seegene Medical Foundation donated 500 million won in scholarship funds for international master and doctoral students majoring in life science at Sahmyook University. Seegene Medical Foundation is an affiliate of Seegene, a company that develops reagents for diagnosing viral diseases such as COVID-19, and the largest disease testing institution in Korea. So far, the foundation has donated a total of 630 million won to Sahmyook University.

This scholarship is for master and doctoral students from Southeast and Central Asian countries such as Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia. The selection is based on recommendations from the life science and health care professors. The selected are provided with academic scholarships and living expenses, as well as an employment opportunity at the Seegene Medical Foundation after graduation.

Since the signing of an MOU for mutual exchanges in 2016, Sahmyook University and the Seegene Medical Foundation have continued their partnership for fostering excellent professionals and mutual development.

The foundation and its Chairman Chun, Jong Kee have donated a total of 120 million won in scholarships to SU Chromosome Research Institute twice, in 2016 and 2020. The scholarship funds were also used to support the studies of graduate students and researchers from Vietnam, China, and Nepal, among which many were hired by the medical foundation.

In addition, Sahmyook University signed an MOU for academic and research cooperation with Hanoi Medical University and Hai Phong Medical University in Vietnam, thanks to the arrangement by Seegene that conducts social contribution projects in the country.

Furthermore, the foundation has recently donated 10 million won for the operation of the International Virtual Conference of Sahmyook University (ICSU 2021), an international academic conference to be held in commemoration of the 115th anniversary of the University in October.
