K-Move School, a training program for overseas employment which has so far produced 43 employment cases in the U.S., continues this year. Sahmyook University has been selected yet again as an operating institution of the 2021 K-Move School, which is sponsored by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea. In fact, this year marks the fourth consecutive year since 2018.

K-Move School is a project that provides customized training courses for overseas employment to university graduates and graduates-to-be who look for opportunities to work overseas and then leads them to actual employment by matching them with top companies. Sahmyook University has been operating this project every year since 2018 and has achieved employment for 43 graduates with local companies in the U.S.

This year, the university is in charge of running two training courses, as a course called the “Global Design Expert Training Course (U.S.)” has been newly entrusted on top of the existing course, the “Global e-Biz Expert Training Course (U.S.)”. With a total of about 40 trainees, 20 in each course, the project is funded with around 400 million won by the government.

The “Global e-Biz Expert Training Course” aims to cultivate e-business experts through job training such as big-data analysis, service manage strategy, e-commerce, and system analysis and design. The “Global Design Expert Training Course” provides training in graphic design, mobile-web design, graphics design, and project design to produce outstanding 4th industrial revolution design experts.

Sahmyook University will complete recruitment and selection of trainees by the end of May and begin the 6-month course from the following month. The course consists of various subjects, of which the time amount to 660 hours, including job training (300 hours), Business English and other language training (300 hours), and education on culture, safety, and legal affairs (60 hours). The entire course is free of charge, while all the trainees are provided with a scholarship (2.5 million won as of 2020) to encourage overseas employment.

“Amidst the global employment crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic last year, the K-Move School successfully got 13 graduates to work in the U.S.” said Ki-hoon Ahn, Director of the Career Development Center, “This year is forecasted to see a gradual recovery of the job market, and we will continue to work hard to cultivate global talent by providing our training resources and competency in full scale.”

The Career Development Center held a “K-Move School Project Presentation” via ZOOM at 12 P.M. on March 15. Students who wished to apply for the program were required to attend the session.
