“SU’s Base for Leaping Forward as a Global University”

The International Foundation for Adventist Colleges, a scholarship foundation for Sahmyook University in the U.S. has been officially launched, paving a path for active fundraising activities overseas as well.

The inaugural meeting of the International Foundation for Adventist Colleges was held on November 6 at the main building of Loma Linda Korean SDA Church in Loma Linda, California, U.S.A. The general meeting was joined by over 100 participants, including SU President Il-mok Kim, SU External Relations Dean Jeong-sook Kim, the foundation executives, members of the SU Development Committee in America, as well as alumni.

The International Foundation for Adventist Colleges, which has been officially approved by the U.S. government, is a scholarship foundation organized by the Committee for SU Development in America. The committee consists of 155 members from Los Angeles, Mountain View, New York, Chicago, and Atlanta, and is planning to appoint additional members from Seattle, Texas, Toronto, and Vancouver.

The Development Committee plans to conduct various fund-raising projects through the newly established foundation, including holding leadership forums to nurture the next generation of leaders, holding fund-raising events for scholarship and development funds, supporting overseas internship programs, and issuing publications that meet the purpose of the foundation.

At the general meeting, Dr. Tae-geon Jeong (former professor at Loma Linda University School of Medicine) was appointed as the president of the foundation. Participants of the meeting also deliberated and resolved other matters necessary for the establishment and operation of the foundation, such as the election of the executives and the confirmation of the articles of association.

President Il-mok Kim said, “The International Foundation for Adventist Colleges will serve as a base for Sahmyook University to truly develop into a global leading university.” He added, “We look forward to your full support in writing a new chapter of our university as we continue on with our 115 years of history of Sahmyook education.”
