Community service groups from the SU Institute for Glocal Social Innovation are being sent out. This will include a total of 133 students in 11 groups for outreach services during the summer vacation.

It is the first time in three years since the university dispatched large-scale volunteer service groups. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the social distancing measures have kept the scale of the voluntary groups to minimal and completely halted overseas dispatches.

This summer, a total of 11 groups are being dispatched, including 10 department groups and 1 overseas (Myanmar) online volunteer group.

In the department groups, students from the departmental groups are joining hands to provide educational, medical, and labor services. The participating students actively planned and designed all their outreach programs based on their corresponding major fields of study and talents. The Myanmar group will offer a Korean language education course online.

Professor Yoon Jae-young, Leader of the Community Service Group of the SU Institute for Glocal Social Innovation said during the preparatory training session, “Let us go beyond what’s important for ‘me’ to seek what’s important for ‘my colleagues’ and ‘a community as a whole.’” He added, “I hope we will be a community that re-establishes the sense of community which has been destroyed.”
