Sahmyook University ran a 5-week online overseas training program, Blue Ladder, from December 27, 2021, to January 26, 2022.

Blue Ladder is a project that provides an opportunity for training at an overseas university for students who enthusiastically seek career-building opportunities and work hard to develop their capabilities amidst their social and financial difficulties. Supported by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Student Aid Foundation, the project has been commissioned to Sahmyook University for its operation for the past 3 consecutive years.

Sahmyook University this year joined hand with the University of Guam to run the overseas training program for 30 students, including 28 from Sahmyook University and 2 from other universities. While trainees were sent overseas in the previous years, those for this round received online training instead due to the global pandemic.

The program participants took a foreign language class, teamed up to conduct a company analysis project, and toured global companies in Jeju Island. As for the foreign language training, students were grouped by their proficiency level and enjoyed teaching by ESL instructors from the University of Guam. The course also provided the trainees an opportunity to experience the history and culture of Guam.

The program this year was run on the Residential College (RC) system, where the participants stayed together in a dorm throughout the course of training. Along with the regular classes, holistic and creative community education was provided, including a meet-up with seniors who have been hired overseas, and craft programs where they learned baking, making leather wallets, and more.

Meanwhile, Sahmyook University decided to provide priority selection opportunities for K-Move School, the US internship program, to those who completed this round of training.
