[NEWS] Faculty Council Meeting Held in Metaverse

Sahmyook University held the faculty council meeting on the metaverse platform “Gathertown” on December 22. It is the first time for the meeting to take place on a metaverse platform.

The virtual space consisted of a conference hall, Koinonia Hall, rooms for group discussions, an exhibition hall for policy presentation videos, and a tutorial room. Faculty members participated in the virtual meeting by utilizing features such as avatar creation, video connection, voice chat, and video sharing.

First, participants gathered at the conference hall to attend the devotional and watch the president’s remarks, after which they moved to the Koinonia Hall, dividing into 12 small groups for a time of fellowship.

Then, they moved to the video exhibition hall to watch pre-recorded presentations on the following policies: △ Vitalization of the multi-major system (Academic Affairs Office), △ Concept of the metaverse and plans for its class application (Institute for Innovative Education), △ Career guidance for students: major accomplishments and future plans (Student Affairs Office), △ Report on the establishment of the University Innovation Support Project (2nd cycle) (Planning Office), and △ Utilization of the online IR system (IR Center).

Group discussions took place in small conference rooms, in which a number of major topics were addressed, including the following: △ the enhancement of the student employment rate, △ the improvement of the university’s image, △ the improvement of methods and indexes for department evaluation, △ the improvement of the university’s research environment, △ the development of the smart learning environment, △ the enhancement of student satisfaction, and △ the improvement of faculty welfare.
