A Sahmyook University alum couple donated a large amount of money for a project to nurture third-world pastors in Asia and Africa as theologians.

Sahmyook University announced that Ahn, Jae-wan and Cho, Eun-ho, an alumni couple, donated 100 million won to the Department of Theology’s development funds for the sponsoring scholarship support for ‘Overseas Master’s and Doctoral Training’ and the ‘Theology Building lobby -Hall of Fame project.’

The alum couple entered the Department of Theology in 1984. After graduating in the late 1980s, they moved to the U.S. and continued to minister there. Currently, they serve at Hilltop Church in Ontario, California.

The couple, who do meaningful projects every ten years, decided to donate funds to their alma mater ahead of their 60th birthday. It is known that the fund for the ‘Overseas master’s and doctoral theology training project’ was greatly influenced by the recent news of Sahmyook University’s ‘Mongolian first doctorate in theology.

Ahn Dong-moon and his wife said, “We are happy to participate in a meaningful project through our alma mater ahead of our 60th birthday. We hope that international students studying at Sahmyook University will return to their countries and stand as competent theologians and spiritual leaders to work on the gospel of the world.”

Meanwhile, the ‘Overseas Theological Master’s and Doctoral Theology Training Project’ is promoted by the Graduate School of Theology at Sahmyook University. It is a scholarship project to support theological researchers who hope to lead their theology with theological knowledge and qualifications among pastors working in Asia and Africa. Full scholarships will be provided for the Graduate School of Theology Master’s (M.Div) course for two years and the Sahmyook University Graduate School of Theology Department of Theology (Ph.D.) course for three years.
